Exploring Contemporary Indigenous Art: The Over & Over & Over Again Exhibition

Georgian College’s Campus Gallery is proud to present its latest exhibition, “Over & Over & Over Again,” running from February 15 to March 24.
This showcase highlights the artistry of Ojibwe artist Carl Beam and his daughter, Anong Migwans Beam, from M’chigeeng First Nation. Exploring Contemporary Indigenous Art: The Over & Over & Over Again Exhibition


Anong will debut her pieces at the gallery, while students will curate Carl’s work from Georgian’s esteemed art collection. Notably, Carl was the first Indigenous artist to have a contemporary artwork acquired by the National Gallery of Canada.

Through their art, Carl and Anong invite viewers to engage in dialogue surrounding environmentalism, politics, history, and culture. Their pieces reflect a continual process of exploration and reflection, urging guests to make personal and global connections to the artwork.

“The Campus Gallery is thrilled to present this exhibition, which honors the sacred relationship between parent and child and the meaningful conversations that continue between artworks,” shares Amy Bagshaw, Director of The Campus Gallery.

Key Dates for the Exhibition:

  • Opening Reception: February 15 from 5-8 p.m.
  • Artist Talk: March 14 at 11 a.m.
  • Participation in the MacLaren Art Centre’s Art Crawl: March 21 starting at 11 a.m.
